Introducing The 2ndSkin Asia Athletes

I have written about 2ndSkin when they first launched in late 2010 and the entry to the post could be retrieved here. This locally-bred brand is a brainchild of two people that are passionate in sports. Translating the need for awesome, cool, attention grabbing, functional and fun apparel are what drives them to constantly deliver new designs for the sporting community in Malaysia. I have been a big fan with majority of my wardrobe stocked with t-shirts from 2ndSkin Asia, apart from all those t-shirts from races I've taken part in since years ago.

The Good News
On November 21, 2012, I received an email from 2ndSkin Asia informing me that I have been chosen to be part of their 2013 Athlete Collaboration. Apparently, i fit in nicely to what they describe as follow:
Our stable of athletes are the normal everyday guy/gal you meet on the street, with a day job/school, day-to-day responsibilities and train in their available time. We are not looking for professional athletes who are paid to perform, but our vision is with those who juggle their lives and find the balance and passion to train for their events, in other words, the ultimate weekend warrior.
I am their latest addition to be wearing 2ndSkin apparels in races to come. Other athletes in this collaborations are the like of Chan Jun Shen, Annie Yee and Roy Yeow. It seems, I am the least colorful in terms of (sports) achievement. :) Perhaps, from time to time, i shall write something short to introduce these ordinary everyday people that juggle personal life, work and sports - a delicate balance many are trying to find.
Update (Nov 25,2012) - As of Nov 22, 2012, Yip Weng Tak has been offered and accepted to be part of the 2ndSkin Athlete. Read about this inspirational, humble and super determined guy here.

The Fabric Technology
2ndSkin clothings are made with multiple type of materials such as their proprietary Vaporlite™ Technology (Breathable), Vaporskin™ Technology (Breathable) and Polycotton™ Fabrication.

Having tried all three material in my daily (outside of work clothing) life, I can say that the materials live up to it's name. The Vaporlite™ is a nice lightweight material that doesn't feel like a wet towel when fully drenched in sweat. The Vaporskin™ is versatile enough to be made into an exercise T, and yet nice enough to be made into a Polo-T. I happened to buy one of them in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Pricing wise, the clothing ranges from RM49 to RM69 dependent on material. It comes in on par, if not better than most major brand and the best thing about it is that you would not be wearing anything that is common or with the brand name/logo striked across the chest (though some would like them as well due to status/brand association). With average of 25-30 designs that comes out from 2ndSkin Asia, you will have not be short of choices to suit your lifestyle.
Customization For Various Companies and Clubs

2ndSkin Asia does customization as well. Known to come out with some good design and some witty designs, more and more corporation that do not want a run-off-the-mill t-shirts has engaged them to produce impressive functional clothing wear. Bear in mind, some of these shirts/polo are can be considered as a "one-off limited design".

Example of a limited and functional running vest made for Zaid Ibrahim and Co (ZICO)'s Runnerbees, the company's running/sports club. Proud to say, i have one of them. Thank you Zico.

ZICO's running vest made in the best Vaporlite material. Superb.
