I grew up in
Klang Valley and very much a KL-boy. I am trained as an Engineer (Electrical
& Electronics) and currently functions as a Project Manager managing
renewable energy ventures. I have extensive working experiences which you can
view in my LinkedIn
profile.
Growing up, I
was never a sports person. My foray into physical activities was solely based
on strength sports such as javelin, discus and shot-put. I could not sprint and
could not run distance. I grew up wanting to own a bicycle - and finally got
one when I was 12 years old through years of saving those "angpow"
money. I have never run distance until I was accepted into Royal Military
College, Malaysia. That too, I could not break the 8minutes mark for a 1-mile
run. My foray into endurance sports date back to about 10 years ago - when I
decided that bodybuilding was not for me. I got to a massive 95kg (which
really, it was fat) and no way could I compete without any aid. It was a tough
decision (then) that has proven to be a good one (now).
I have lost
counts of the races I entered over the years. To date (December 2012), I've taken
part and completed (unless stated otherwise):
1. No less than 10 adventure races (multi-discipline);
2. Numerous 10km runs, lost count of my 21km runs;
3. 13 marathons (that's 42km if you are curious);
4. One Kapas-Marang swimathon (6,5km Island to mainland);
5. Numerous duathlons (minimum 5km-20km-5km Run-Bike-Run);
6. Lost count of Olympic distance triathlons(minimum 1.5km-40km-10km
Swim-Bike-Run);
7. Eight Long distance triathlons (Desaru Triathlon, minimum
2km-90km-
21km Swim-Bike-Run);
8. Five Powerman duathlon (minimum 10km-60km-10km Run-Bike-Run)
of
which I finished only three officially;
9. Three Ironman Triathlon (3.8km-180km-42km Swim-Bike-Run)
10. One Sabah Adventure Challenge (minimum 150km multi-discipline).
Complete but not official finisher;
11. Three Kinabalu Climbathons (21km. Run starts from Timpohon up to
Peak and back to Park HQ) – of which I’ve finished none with 3:30 cut
off;
12. One Hash Challenge that made the hashers run/walk/crawl from
Sungai
Pusu to Batu 18 Hulu Langat traversing the Titiwangsa range. Did not
complete and will do it again in 2013; and
13. Organised the first Xterra Triathlon in 2009 (Kuantan) that was the first
in South East Asia; and
14. Many more to come...

I have appeared in a Television
program (TV3 Explorace 2007) and numerous publications such as FHM, The Edge,
The Star, Cleo, Sin Chew Jit Poh and Oriental Daily. I conducted a Running 101
workshop once and was involved in helping/sharing my knowledge with the sports
club from Zaid Ibrahim and Co.
As an amateur triathlete, I was sponsored by Tune Money in 2009 and is currently a 2ndSkin Athlete for 2013. As part of the 2ndSkin collaboration, Skechers Malaysia is sponsoring me their footwear. I am also part of the Brooks Elite Frunners, of which I will get to review shoes as it comes in.

In July 2011, I took a big step
and changed my eating habits and lifestyle. I am a self-confessed foodie (yes,
you can still ask me where to get the best food) and I turn around 180 degree
and started a rewarding journey of clean eating and living. It was superb for
stress (and depression) management. In about 10 months, it started to show
results and I went from (waist) 36 inches to a svelte 30 inches. I dropped from
85kg to 67kg, bringing my body fat count from 25% to a cool 9%. I have since
wrote a lot about food, health and training routines – which are what brought
you, my readers here. I thank you all for the support.
I’ve embraced social media full
on and you can follow me at a few places. Find me at:
Say Hi when you see me in
