A Dirty Weekend is coming to Putrajaya

XTERRA is a respected lifestyle sports brand which encompasses physical and mental challenge. Began at Maui in 1996, XTERRA offers a series of an off-road triathlon that includes swimming, trail cycling and running.

This year, XTERRA was brought to Malaysia with expectation to fulfill the demand of extreme sports here and to gives the opportunity for many to explore the unseen side of this country.

This exciting event which is supported by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), will be happening at XTERRA Race Central in Kompleks Sukan Air Putrajaya on the 27th & 28th April 2013 with four race categories to choose from. There will be trail run of 5km & 11km and Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run) on Saturday, 27th April 2013. The World Championship Triathlon (1.5km swim, 30km cycle, 11km run) and a Relay Triathlon will take place on Sunday, 28th April 2013.

A line of activities are also up throughout the race weekend with XTERRA Expo running from 26th – 28th April 2013, Meet The Pro Session and Nutrition Talk by Powerbar.

Race Director, Dave Spence has been spending a lot of his time designing the race route and is confident enough to assure that XTERRA MALAYSIA 2013 will be one of the best off-road triathlon in this country. With great support from sponsors this event; XTERRA MALAYSIA will be more than a race.

XTERRA MALAYSIA is also proud to present the Pro athletes that will be flying in from different side of the world to race here – Ben Allen, Dan Hugo, Sam Gardner, Jacqui Slack, Carina Wasle, Meiko Carey & Takahiro Ogasawara are no strangers in the off-road triathlon arena.  XTERRA MALAYSIA is also honored to have our very own Pro athlete, Shahrom Abdullah to represent Malaysia.

XTERRA MALAYSIA is ready to get down and rough, so are you ready for a dirty weekend with us?
The above is the official press release from the organiser for the event. The highlight of it was to have Dave Spence brief the media the race course. I am not sure how the other media personnel would feel, but I was excited. Shall I now use this for my secret training? If you want to know about the race course, listen to Dave's briefing and start getting excited like I did. More videos at my YouTube as I upload them (i.e. I am asking you to subscribe to my YouTube channel, if that was not subtle enough)

If you, like me, has signed up for the race, here are the race route including transition. The maps are self explanatory. It is coordinated by people I know (you guys know who you are) and trust me, it is not that easy. You have less than a month to train - i suggest those of you doing the full race to start learning how to carry your bike over your shoulder - as Dave has put the stake and challenge anyone that can ride the whole route a drink. The offer includes to the Pro.
For those of you wondering if PUTRAJAYA has the ability to give a full Xterra experience and questioned the venue - I suggest you aim to complete this course and you can have your bragging rights racing the (return of) Xterra in South East Asia.
