Malaysia Produced Own Jet Fighters

The Ministry of Defence will be proud with the locally produced Kancil that could double up as a Jet Fighter.

Forget the Sukhoi and the F-18. This Kancil will definately out run and give the pilot a huge dog fighting advantage and in the process, save the government millions in yearly defence budget as a Kancil would only cost RM35K OTR with all the wings fitted on. This design will also make it possible to make do without any airport for take off as the Highway could be used as the landing/take off strip. Infact, it feeds on normal RON95 or even RON97 fuel and pumping it with that special variant of fuel available only at that certain petrol station would make long distance bombing mission possible.

Codenamed : Brembo Fighter

With the Huge Sticker behind the car windscreen, it is also telling the other Jets not to mess with it as it could do a Mach 3 to Stalling the plane in mid air in less than 9 seconds. This would give great advantage as the sudden stop would also allow the Kancil Jet Fighter to do a Cobra Move, previously only possible with a Su-29 Flanker and Mig-29 Fulcrum, this, they believe would also put a stop to the Mat Rempit menace as these racers will be reduced to nothing as they crashed into the rear of this Jet.

Afterburner warning up, ready to take off

Spotted in Damansara Perdana yesteray night, it was sans it's camo paintwork and was parked by the road side illegally. It did stopped a few other cars, envy of the modification and some were even seen taking pictures of the car for further R&D purposes. Suspected pixmen were most probably working with the rival car manufacturer Proton. However rumour has it that the famous UK secret services is also looking at this current genius invention.

Agent Q at work.

The next 007 will be equiped with this piece of engineering marvel. As we all know, the DB9 in Casino Royale can't even handle a sudden shift in Gs that it went flying over Eva Green as 007 slammed on the brake. This machine will put to rest all worries for the next 007 as it will be touted to be the next generation Bond car as the Agency do a lil bit more modification to make it operate under water as a submarine. Should be hard as the large wing would be used as rudder under water as well.

Imposing "Don't Mess With Me" stance

The next time you see this vehicle on the road, don't be surprised if the downforce produced will cause a crack on the road where the wheels tread on. Infact, the local council at the vicinity has already started blaming it for all the pot holes caused.

Ryan - Day 103 and counting

Last Saturday was his 100th day with us. Today, he is 103 days old.

And boy, did he grow.

He now officially weigh in at 6.95kg and stood at a good 64.5cm tall. His head circumference is 36cm now.

These are the basic stats that Dr. Yong took every month or every visit we made to see him.

In a short 100 days, he has grown from a 3.3kg baby standing (or lying at 50cm) tall to a baby double his weight and taller by 7 inches.

hold me, thrill me, love me

He is now taking 6ounces of milk (Nan 1) and feeding at a 6 hours interval. This also meant that me and wifey gets more rest and we could afford to feed him at 1am and only wakes him up at 7am for his next feed.

His cries has also changed and he reacts to a lot of things around him now. His neck is strong and his grips, assuring. Lets not go to his kick as yet.

There is this chart that Dr. Yong uses to monitor his growth process, there were below average, average and above average lines.

His height is above the above average, his weight is almost above average and his head circumference is also above average.

He will be a big boy when he grow up. But his height will be limited genetically, meaning, at most, he would be my height. LOL. Sorry boy, looks like you won't be 5'11" afterall!

Our feeling for him right now? listen to Barry White below and you will understand!

How To Shine A Shoe

I'm not talking about sucking up to your boss or apple polishing someone's arse.

It was Huzir Sulaiman's article in yesterday's paper that got me this excited.

Nothing less than leather, that's a proper shoe!

I totally agree with him with what he says (but not with what he bought to keep his pairs shiny, too expensive la!).

My humble opinion is that Kiwi or just about any reputable shoe polish paste/wax will work wonderfully if the correct steps and technique are used.

And it's true, nothing is a bigger turn off than a man with nice clothes but dirty unkept shoes!

By the way, those quick shine liquid doesn't count! Those are just plain lazy way to keep your shoe shiny!

So, armed with years of training and a habitual need to keep my shoes shiny...here it is, how you could turn your pairs into a showpiece and in return, walk with pride with every step you take!

A toothbrush, shoe wax/polish and a piece of used cotton t

In Huzir's article, he uses products which i can't even pronounce their names (and therefore, expensive). But nevermind, a can of Kiwi or in this case, Pacico Guard would work. Back in my days in RMC, we were given Day & Martin shoe polish, which we do not use except to blacken the ledges of the staircases and the ledges of our room's louvers. As this was given as standard issue, we also uses this to blacken the base of our boots and shoes. And believe me when i say this, a blackened sole dos not pick up dirt as easily and it ensure that we do clean our shoes, which would be laid out properly under the bed. Any dirty unpolished shoes would earn them a wing. That is, being thrown out or your room down to the lower floor (depending on which floor you are staying) by the seniors or officers that come inspect our room for cleaniness.

A tip to remember, to polish shoe, always buy smaller can of wax as cried up wax serves no purpose!

the new Day & Martin, i still have the original canister with HAK KERAJAAN MALAYSIA printed on it

I'll show how it's done on my pair of Wingtip shoe. Also fondly known as Officers' Shoe back in RMC. Wingtip is the proper executive shoe a man should wear to work, assuming that they are at the executive level or higher.

Dirty Wingtip with faded shine. Ugly!

Dirty Sole!!! Also a No No!

The first step in polishing the shoe is to make sure the ledges of the shoe are properly cleaned. This would involve you cleaning it with a toothbrush. Then, dab some wax with the toothbrush and brush it along the ledges.

A lot of men neglected this, as they uses the liquid silicon based polish that does nothing!

Do the same for the sole of the shoe, carefully ensuring the whole sole is covered with thin layer of wax, this would also ensure all dirt on the sole be brushed off and clean.

I swear i had Micheal Bolton's Soul Provider playing in my head as i was doing this.

When that is done, you are ready for step two.

With your bare finger, dab a liltle bit of wax on your index. You can use cloth if you want, but the results will be different. And real men uses their bare hand anyway...

Don't worry, you can wash them off, and they smell nice!

Now, with your index finger lightly covered with the wax, apply, in circular motion, firmly, but not too firm, the wax onto the leather. do this until the surface is covered with wax.

A tip is to do this portion by portion, start with the toe cap first. Apply a single layer, then dab your hand into the wax and apply anohter layer. Keep doing this until you have nicely layered the leather shoe.

Becareful not to take any shortcut by taking a big portion and smearing it on the leather. You will only cake up the surface and the layer will break the moment it dries. Do this with patiences and love.

This pair of wingtip has 1 can of wax layered on it before i attempted to even polish it proper.. So, imagine the amount of time spent. And the results will speak for itself.

Layer it and keep layering! This is the secret!

and i meant the whole shoe!!!

including the heels and the side of the sole!!!

Don't believe that the rubber covered heel could be polished? you will be surprised!

There is no short cut here and the process will take you longer than you read this article.

Properly layered toe cap

Do it both diligently and lovingly to both side of the shoes and then put it aside to let the wax seeps into the leather.

becareful not to leave it in direct sun as it would melt the wax and you will have uneven layer!

After 10 minutes or less, you can start step three. Polishing the shoe.

First, pour some water onto the cover of the wax can.

a bit enough liao...

Water works as natural lubricant here in this waxing process. So, this is essential. And no, using Evian will not give your shoe a deeper shine. You might recall Huzir saying that his dad use the spit-on-shoe technique...well, this water option is definately cleaner, no?

Then, wrap your index finger tightly (but not too tight that it restrict blood flow) and ensure the cloth is wrapped smoothly without any creases like the pic below.

Mr. Finger

Then, dab your cloth covered finger into the water.

Not too wet...just a lil...

Then, just as how you would layer the shoe with wax, do the same this time with the damp cloth. apply firmly, but not too firm. This is when things will get interesting!

Same circular motion as layering...not that hard, isn't it?

Keep doing this portion by portion and instead of using just water the second time around, dab your finger into the wax slightly and use the damp cloth now dabbed with wax to polish the shoe.

Water-Wax-Water-Wax keep going in circular motion.

Change the portion of the cloth with a clean dry part and repeat the process until you get the deep glossy shine out. This is where perfect layering will help. If you took a short cut and layered it too fast and too thick, this is when the wax will cake off and you will end up smearing the whole surface. When that happen, there is nothing you can do but to put the shoe out under the shade where the heat of the sun would melt it and you will have to layer the shoe, all over again! So, do it once and do it right!

sorry, can't resist tempatition to cam whore

Repeat on both the shoes and all parts until you are happy with the results.

As you were polishing the shoe, try this step which i never fail to use. I will open my mouth and gently blow warm air onto the surface of the leather. This will cause condensation on the surface and the slight heat treatment and the evenly distributed water(or saliva) will enhance the shine.

No, that's not my middle finger and i'm not about to eat my shoe

Don't forget the rubber covered heels and side of the sole as well! They deserves a good polishing too!

Heels don't lie...

Now, isn't that easy? Take a look at my before and after pic.

Before - faded and dusty

After - Gawd, can you see me making the PEACE sign?

How, just how deep is the shine? I placed the shoe under my table, which is dark and the nicely polished surface catches the warm white light, right under the table!

No, i do not have any female colleague

OK. Now, it's "show off the shine" time!

The side and heel, my thumbs up sign clearly seen in the shoe's reflection

You can tell what colour shirt i'm wearing even!

see, i wasn't joking when i say you can see the colour of my shirt!!! That's how deep the shine is!

Walk with Pride!

And stand tall!

Yeah!

There is an updated post here with photos.

Tribute to Jade Emperor - Chinese New Year 9th Lunar Day

Ryan, with his first Angpow given by his granpa

Today is the 9th lunar day of Chinese New Year. Any Hokkien worth his salt (no pun intended...afterall, we Hokkien are known to be Kiam!!!) would observe today with much more importance than compared to Chap Goh Meh.

I went to my granma's place in Gombak yesterday night for the prayer. As everyone would know, Gombak Batu 3 till Batu 5 is infested by these Kiam Siap Hokkiens, with splattering of malay kampung in this area. Truly muhibbah.

At 11.45pm on the 8th lunar day, i reached my granma's house and already, fireworks, though illegal were already firing up in the sky. This is almost taunting the law, heck, it's making a mockery out of it!

Must have is the unmistakenly much needed sugar cane, which will be sold at a rip off price of RM8 per pair (Once a year only what....). Why sugarcane?

Legend has it that in days of yore, a foreign army invaded the Hokkien heartland. All the Hokkien soldiers fled into the fields and immediately a whole forest of sugar cane sprung up to hide the army and protect it from the enemy. This saved the Hokkien race and since then the Hokkiens have celebrated the ninth day of the Lunar New Year by placing stalks of sugar cane on either side of the front door. This is also the birthday of the Heavenly Jade Emperor.

Heavenly Jade Emperor? Dun pray pray, he is also so called feautred in hollywood! Read on here!

Anyway, as usual, without fail for the past many moons, my granma, like her forefather before her, has been celebrating this without fail, with exception of the years when my granpa passed away, which was 3 years.

Offerings...

more offerings

Back in the good ol days when fireworks and firecrackers weren't banned, the 3 houses of extended families at my granma's would have at least 100 feets of crackers burning and will take a good 20 minutes, at least to finish. We would hang rolls after rolls and the older uncle would join the fuses all up for continuity.

But since my family are all law abiding citizens, we've since ceased to do that when the ban came on. But i tell you, by the 5th minutes, everyone would had been almost deaf.

Granma leading the prayer

Everyone will get 3 joss stick and each will wish the Jade Emperor a happy birthday while also asking to be blessed with health, luck and prosperities for the year. Especially important for people with business! No two ways about it.

My granma has never fail not to have a roast pig on the table as offering. I'm talking about the whole big roast pig which takes up one table length. As this should be a halal blog, i'm leaving the pic of the piggy out, out of respect for it as well as it's their year anyway ;-)

Then, after the prayer, the paper offerings will be piled up and burnt. I know, some would say it's a waste of money, but who could question tradition? As usual, i am tasked to ensure that all offerings are properly burnt. That would involve me poking and playing with fire which is big. And fun.

playing with fire, you'll get burned

The rites conclude with the burning of the sugarcane leaves, which gives out crackling sound, which also imitiates the firecrackers. Then, it's feasting time as porridge would be cooked and the roast pork be chopped and given to relatives. Sharing is indeed caring. One roast pork could feed 3 extended family. So, imagine back in those days when celebrating this 9th Lunar Day involved 3 large roasted pig and 100 feet long firecrakers!

As i do not consume this prized meat as often, i left this out as it's already 2am and i got a marathon to run in 2 weeks. That is anohter issue altogether!

And while the whole celebration goes on, the fireworks around Gombak Batu 3 3/4 goes on....

This is even bigger waste of money

but nice!

Only a card.

I make bad husband.

But this is good stuff!

So good i had to lick it clean

To make me feel worse, she has a pressie for me.

She knows i love them too...

Corny hot love songs

More corny hot love songs

Even corny hot love songs' videos...

Due to me trying to save to get myself a road bike...i did not get wifey anything.

I still feel bad. Maybe worse.

And how would anyone feel better if the CDs comes with lyrics too?

So, to my dearest wifey, thank you very much for sticking by my habits, my temper, my everything. Thanks for giving me Ryan.

Thanks for the bread you jsut bought for me as i'm missing lunch today.

Thanks for the collection of James Bond Movies you just bought for us to see during Chinese New Year as well.

And above all, thanks, for being in my life, and making it different from day one.

I love you very much.
