Much Ado About Lunch

My office was previously in Uptown Damanasara Utama and lunch was heaven with varieties of food to suit the mood of the day.

There are the simple malay, chinese, indian food to the more upscale fusion stuffs and even hard to find real punjabi fare.

When the office shifted to Mutiara Damansara to this place called Menara Batu Kawan, the lunch hour were not the same anymore.

But occasionally, i do go back there to pack some stuff when i went to pick Ryan bck from his playschool.

Other than that, i realised that not having lunch with the colleagues sort of diminishes the "social" portion of work. No longer people laugh and talk crap during lunch and no doubt, people are drifting apart (from me).

Not helping as the food around this area are expensive. What used to be able to "kau tim" with RM5 (and with change) now requires at least RM6.20 (McD value meal lunch hour deal).

Even the bloody Kayu Nasi Kandar will set you back at RM7.50 for a simple rice+vege+chicken!

Well, there is always the RM3 deal at Ikea (1 curry puff and 1 refillable drink), but you get my drift.

No more these food here in Mutiara Damansara

Nasi Ayam Berempah (infront of Mosque)

Nasi Lemak Pakcik Osman (Next to Mosque)

Rojak Pasembor (infront of Brother Peter) and Hard to Resist Ayam Goreng Berempah (Infront of Mosque)

Vegetarian Punjabi Food at Uptown hawker. Briyani, Chapati, palak, tauhu sambal, vege yoghurt

The above are just a fraction of food found in uptown. I've not talked about the chinese auntie that sell the economy rice, the indian auntie stall with so much varieties of dishes, the Thai makcik that sell tapai pulut as part of desert, the ipoh mali minah that whip pretty good stuff, the cheap chicken chop value meal, the no frill yong tau foo next to HSBC, the Ipoh food at Annie1, the Mee Jawa at hot hot place, the corner restoran that sell pan mee and such...

The list goes on and on. You can have different food everyday and not repeat them for two weeks at Uptown Damansara.

Here in Mutiara...well...if all else fail, there is always the home-packed sandwich

Or an excuse or two to be in Uptown for lunch!

  3. Kesihan, Imagine me in dayabumi. Totally gave up on lunch. The closest I get to Chinese food is Petaling Street, and even that I run the risk of getting robed. You'll get use the quiet lunches at your workstation....
